FALL OVER A CLIFF.
FATE OF A MAORI. [BV TELEGRAM.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. A middle-aged Maori, Poki Martin, of Motunm, was found dead at the foot of high cliffs on tho western > side of tho Waiau River, near the Motunui Beach, yesterday morning. Two residents of the district who had gone to Martin's house found that ho had lit a fire and this was still burning. Searching for Martin they fount! his hat aud socks at the top of the cliff, and, looking over the cliff to the rocks about 150 feet below, they could see the dead body of Martin. It was recovered later in the day.
