ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. Tho Onehunga Borough Council mot last evening, the Mayi.r, Mr. K. Jlorton, presiding. Delegates to tho conference regarding tho proposed air port were authorised to support tho site near Henwood and Buckland Roads, Mangere, and to limit the council's financial commitment. Permission was granted to tho Onehunga Ex-Scrviccmcn's Club to hold a carnival at tho recreation reserve. Football matches and other sports will bo held, and thero will bo a street carnival tho previous evening, when a collection will bo made. The funds, which will carry a subsidy, will bo expended in work for local unemployed ox-servicemen. A quotation of £SO was received for j cleaning and repairirg tho Seddon Memorial Statue.
Mr. W J. Jordan, M.P-, advifeed that ho was approaching the Minister of Public Works in support of tho council's application for subsidy for tho relief of unemployment.
