WINTER EXHIBITION.

GREAT EDUCATIONAL VALUE.

SEASON ENDS THIS EVENING.

THE FINAL ATTRACTIONS. After a most successful season the Auckland Winter Exhibition will bo brought (o a close this evening. Tho many and varied attractions eacli day have resulted in large attendances at every session and the exhibition lias proved of great educational value, especially to school children. It is estimated that at least 10,000 pupils of city and suburban schools, accompanied bv their teachers, have, visited the exhibition. The gate takings yesterday totalled £327 10s, a slight increase on the figures for the corresponding day last year. Tlio receipts to date total £2966. which is over £220 less than the amount taken during the same period in 1029, but officials expect that to-day's takings will bring the receipts up to those of last year. Yesterday's programme was exceptionally varied and included a. recital by the Ponsonby Boys' Band, free cinema entertainments, expert demonstrations of Friesian, Ayrshire and Jersey cattle, and several brief addresses on topical sub- *® ... jects. A bakers' exhibition and sconeI baking competitions were also held.

This afternoon tho dancing pupils of Miss Aiken Beresfunl will present a stage entertainment. A short lecture on "Women Police" will bo given by Miss Alice Hasten, and Miss Ellen Melville will speak on "New Zealand Products." The Mount Eden Boys' Band will render selections during the evening. Other attractions include a cake-decorating competition for pastrycooks, the presentation of a picture programme and an address on "Auckland's Volcanic Cones," by Mr. ti. M. Fowlds. A record number of Angora and Chinchilla rabbits were judged at the Winter Exhibition yesterday afternoon by Mr. E. Yates. There was a total of 121 entries, the Chinchilla classes being considerably larger than those in the Angora s.ection. The qualify of all the animals was of " a high standard and compared most favourably with previous exhibitions. Results are as follows: — Special Awards. —Best.
