NEW TRAMWAY EXTENSION.
RICHMOND ROAD LINE.
CONTRACT FOR EXCAVATION.
A contract for the excavation work required in connection with the Richmond Road tramway extension was let by the Transport Board yesterday to the firm of H. Bray and Company. Eight tenders were received, the successful firm undertaking to do tho work for £2163. Iho new line will proceed from Ponsonhy Road at tho intersection with Richmond Road, and will follow that, road past the Orphan Home and Sacred Heart Collego to the head of Cox's Creek, whero the terminus will be. Tho remainder of tho work, comprising {ho link between that point and (lie present tram terminus in Richmond Avenue, will be deferred for some time. The con( ractors will commence operations very shortly.
