In Parliamentary circles it is now expected that the Government will accept the amendment to the Coalmines Bill made by the House of Lords to abolish the district levy and will negotiate in regard to the spread-over of hours. In that case there is every prosplfct of a settlement. The Prime Minister, Mr. MacDonald, speaking at a meeting of thu Labour Party in the House of Commons yesterday, hinted that there was a chance of a general election being held in November.
