Ethel Gertrude Horn (Opunake Cottage Hospital) passed her maternity nurso examination.

The Empire ball has always been one of the outstanding social features of the year, and this year promises to be equally successful. Part of the striking effect of the ballroom is given by the different lapels worn on their coats by the men, and the powdered heads of the ladies. It is the wish of the committee that all members conform to this custom.

Miss Kathleen A. O. Brown, of Auckland, has been touring in Ireland and has returned to Glasgow after a three weeks' walking tour of Cornwall. The annual meeting of the St. George's Girls' Guild, Papatoetoe, was held last week. The vicar, the Rev. 1. 11. C. Partridge, presided. Officers were elected as follows:—President, Mr*. T. 11. C. The annuahfancy dress dance of the Te Ttahu school was held at the public hall recently.
