ONE TREE HILL AFFAIRS.
ROAD BOARD MEETING. Tho One Tree Hill Road Board met last 'evening, tho chairman, Mr. J. Ilardwicke, presiding. "I think the answer is just on a par with previous communications from tho Transport Board," said the chairman, referring to a letter from the board advising that it could not see its way to reinstate the tram stop at Hoald Road, on the Great South Road. "They could at least extend to us tho courtesy of giving us an adequato hearing," he added. It was decided to renew the application. Letters approving of the suggestion that the traffic inspector should address school children on traffic matters were received from headmasters of the schools in tho district.
The building inspector reported that for the year ended December 31, 1929, 244 building permits, involving £96,182, had beon issued. That was the highest total of any of the Auckland local bodies. Sinco January 6, 17 building permits, involving £4112, had been issued. Members expressed approval of the suggestion made by the traffic inspector that street stalls at the Auckland Trotting Club's meetings should be prohibited in Green Lane West because of traffic congestion. The recommendation was adopted.
