SANDERS CUP CONTEST.
LARGER BOATS ADVOCATED.
18-FOOT CLASS SUGGESTED. The question of the size and type of boat for future Sanders Cup contests has been under discussion by the various centres for some time past, and with the object of obtaining an expression of opinion from the Southern delegates the matter was brought forward in committee at a meeting of the Dominion Yachting Conference. Tli'e plans of the 18ft. M class were placed before the meeting and met with general approval of tho delegates. It was thought that if the 18ft. class took tho place of the Jellicoe boats interest in the Sanders Cup, particularly in Auckland, would not only be increased, but other provinces that have not hitherto entered into the contest would take part
in it. The delegates expressed their intention of bringing tho proposal under the notice of their associations and they have requested tho fullest particulars regarding this class. Ccrtainlv no change of boat can be expected for the 1931 contest, but it is possible tho following year may see the adoption of the M class boat as the future contestants for (lie Sanders Cup. Before (his class could compete for the cup, however, it would be necessary to obtain tho consent of the donors, Messrs. Walker and Hall, and the owners, the Auckland Yacht and Motor-Boat Association. to have the type of boat changed from the 14ft, to the 18ft, class.
