SHIP'S WINDOW-FRAMES.

MAN CONVICTED OF THEFT.

Appearing before a jury in the Supreme Court for tho third time within two clays, Edward Richard Black was charged yesterday afternoon with stealing six windowframes, valued at £3O, from tho Union Steam Ship Company's yard at Freeman's Bay, on or about January 10, and with wilfully destroying them. There was an alternative charge of receiving stolen goods. Mr. Justico Smith was on the Bench. Mr. Hubble prosecuted and Mr. Noble appeared for accused. Tho tacts, as given in tho case for the Crown, wore that 22 window-frames, which had been removed from tho Miiruma, were in tho Union Company s yard during tho week ended Januaiy 11. A few days Inter it was discovered that six were missing. Black, on January 11 and 14. sold to a dealer fragments of brass similar to (hat in the missing window-frames. On tho accused s property were found a quantity of broken glass and rubber, and a sledge-hammei and an iron block which would have been suitablo for broaking up tho brass windowframes. [n a statement from tho dock accused said that ho bought tho six window-frames for £4 from two men who approached him in order to make a sale.

A verdict of guilty on the first count, was returned by the jury al'tor a brief retirement. Prisonor wp<j rnmanded for sentence.
