FIGHTING IN THE SOUTH. GOVERNMENT TROOPS' PERIL. SHANGHAI, Feb. 3. It is belioved that the purposo of a visit to Canton, which is being paid by the President, Chiang Kni shok, is an endoavour to restore peace. o'' The visit follows upon further movements on the part of Chang Fah-kuei, whoso forces were not so completely exterminated as was officially stated. Several swift attacks have thrown the Government's troops under Cheng Chi-tung into a precarious position.
