PASTURE RESEARCH.
I WORK OF SCIENTISTS. INSPECTION AT TE KUITJ. [by tfxeoratit.—own correspondent.] TE KUITI, Tuesday. The Pasture Research Committee, consisting of Dr. Dcnham (chairman), Mr. T. Rigg, assistant-director of the Cawthron Institute. Mr. Quenton Donald, Dr. Malcolm, and Mr. B. G. Aston, Director of Research, will arrive in Te Kuiti tomorrow. Dr. E. Marsden, secretary of tho Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, will also be with the committee.
The members will inspect the malnutrition areas near To Kuiti, and also the experimental plots in connection with tho research work relating to sheep troubles. This committee is responsibly to tho Kmpiro Marketing Board for tho scientific work being carried put on pastures in the Dominion.
It is hopod that when it has inspected the areas, and considered tho reports from tho geologist and soil chemists and tho physiologist, who have been working in conjunction, a more extensive scheme of operations will be undertaken. This team work is unique, inasmuch as all branches of scientific research connected .with soil pasture and tho animals themselves, are working in conjunction with tho view of ascertaining their direct influence one upon tho other.
Tho committee will decide whether tho results obtained so far will justify the continuance and extension of the investigations. Tho work of the committeo is of vital importance to this district.
