JURY'S RIDER TO VERDICT.

THE JUDGE DISAGREES. [by telegraph.— press association.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A verdict of not guilty on all counts was returned in tho Supreme Court yesterday by tho jury, after :»n hour's retirement in tho caso of B. B. Gurnoy, charged with carnal knowledge and indecent assault. The foreman announced that tho jury found, " That tho department (in whose charge tho girl was) was lax in not having nor examined." His Honor remarked that ho did not agree with this opinion. He doubted whether thero was material entitling the jury to come to that decision. Tho prisoner was discharged.
