BYRD EXPEDITION.

APPROACH TO ICE PACK

SUPPLY SHIP'S PROGRESS.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A wireless message received in Dunedin to-day stated that the Byrd expedition supply ship Eleanor Boiling was 800 miles south of Otago Heads at noon on Monday. The vessel's speed had been considerably reduced so that she should not come unexpectedly upon the ice-pack. The Eleanor Boiling was expected to join the City of New York some time to-day. No advice has been received whether the captains of both ships or only one will be ordered to navigate a passage through the ice-pack to the Ross Sea and the Bay of Whales.
