PROVISION OF BATHS.
MOUNT ALBERT DISTRICT.
At a meeting of the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening a deputation was received from the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association asking for the provision of swimming facilities in. the district.
Mr. J. Enwright said the centre was not concerned so much with the competitive as with the educational side of swimming. He could not say whether the centre could provide an instructor in the event of baths being made, but it was doing its best to get baths at the Training College, so that teachers would be able to impart the necessary knowledge. If the baths were provided a club would certainly be formed which, as was the case with other clubs, would endeavour to get as many certificates issued as possible. _ Mr. A. A. Buckley said it was the intention of the council to provide baths at Gribblelrirst Park at an early date. The Mayor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, said the association had the sympathy and support of the council. If it was possible to provide baths in the district the council'would do so. A boro was to be put down in Gribblehirst Park, as it was believed that' there was a large underground stream there.
