CAR'S BACKWARD RUSH.

PASSENGERS* FORTUNATE ESCAPE

A motor-car containing four people ran backwards and plunged 30ft. over a bank into a creek yesterday. The occupauts escaped serious injury.

The accident occurred at Tomblescn's deviation, near Eakauroa, ,on the Motu Road. The car turned over three times before reaching the bed of the creek. Two women occupants, Mrs. Thomson, of Gisborne, and Mrs. Thompson, of Motu, wife of the driver/ received minor injuries, and were attended by Dr. Gunn. Messrs. Thompson and Nynam escaped without being hurt, but all received a severe shaking. The hood of the car was badly crushed and the windscreen was broken.
