The final day of the McConachy-Davis billiards match at Manchester found Davis in fine form. In the afternoon he scored 1528, or an average -of 254, while McConachy, with 547, for an average of 78j held at intervals a lead of 1458. Davis in the evening scored 1282 (average 67), and McConachy scored 544 (average 32). The final scores were: McConachy, 23,589; Davis, 22,769. A matcli of phenomenal scoring between Lindrum and Smith ended heavily in favour of Lindrum, who, on the final day, exploited the open method of scoring. The match was a memorable one in Lindrum's career, because in one week he made five breaks of more than 1000. He also scored more points than anyone else has done in a fortnight. The total points scored by both players exceed any total previously made in a fortnight's play in one match. Finally. Lindrum's average for one match is 209 per innings, while Smith, though vanquished by 7983, had the fine average of 150. Lindrum finished with his score at 28,333,' and Smith had made 20,350.
