BOXING.

TUESDAY NIGHT'S CONTEST. The Hay-Thomas fight in {lie Town Hall next Tuesday night is expected to provide boxing of a high standard. Those who have seen Thomas in training have been very much impressed by his speed with both hands. If Hay produces the same form as that on bis last Auckland appearance ho should cause Thomas trouble with his rangy left. Many contend Hay is the best welter in New Zealand and Australia. Nevertheless Thomas, judging on his record, will be a very formidable opponent. The Welshman lost a recent fight to Tommy Fairhall on a points decision, but there was a large section of those present who considered he won. Fairhall is well-known in New Zealand as a clever and fast fighter. The usual amateur preliminaries will precede the main bout.
