QXJIET PERIOD CONTINUES.

Business continued 1o l>o quiet on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. In Government securities business was dono, in Inscribed Stocks. The 1938, 4J, per cent, issue changed hands at £IOO, a decline of 2s 6d on the price paid at the preceding sale ten days ago. More were wauled at llio sale price, late sellers quoting £IOO ss. Business was also dono in the 1932, ,5| per cent, issue, for which £99 17s 6d was paid, an appreciation of 2s 6d on the prico obtained at tho previous sale in September.

The bank section was somewhat quietor than usual and the only sales were in Commercials of Australia,'which sold at 27s and 27s Bd, a slight improvement on tho level that has recently ruled. In insurance New Zealands were on lato offer at 46s 3d, the ruling'rato, but buyers would not go beyond 465, and no business resulted.

In loan and agency Dalgotys wero done at £13 ]6s, cx div., which is two shillings below tho prico paid in Chi'islchurch earlier in (ho week. In MS Aucklands wero again done at the current price of 25s. The only sale produced in the miscellaneous section was a transaction in British Tobaccos at 45s, which sustained the current value. More could bo had at that figure at (he second call, but sellers i later'asked 45s 3d, buyors 44s 6d. Tho mining section was quiet.
