HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
Tlio following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us liy Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening.— Fair to fine weather is expected in most districts during tlio week-end, with warm lomperntures. Unsettled at times in places near tho west coast, in extreme southern districts, and far northern areas, with scattered showers, but favourable conditions predominating throughout the Auckland Province. Southerly to southwesterly winds, modcrato to strong, freshening. Moderately rough seas on tho eastern Tasman Sea, and off tho west coast of tho North Island; smooth to modcrato on the cast coast, and fairly rough northward of Capo Maria. Disturbances are passing both northward and southward of the Dominion, and a cyclone on tho northern Tasman Sea is losing intensity. Barometric pressure is increasing over tho North Island. Tho general outlook favours chiefly fino weather for several days, and cooler temperatures should rule shortly. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.951n. Midnight, Thursday .. .. 29.901n. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A weak anticyclone has developed over (he eastern Tasman Sea and is advancing on to New Zealand. A fresh depression is situated over the south-western Tasman and pressure of the westerly type extends thenco to beyond tho South Australian Bight. Indications are for light winds, southerly at first, veering again soon to northerly, and freshening from Cook Strait southward. Seas generally smooth to moderate. Westerly to northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea; modcrato generally, but freshening in the. southern portion. Seas moderate. iWeathcr fino generally at first, but a renewal of unsettled conditions shortly on I lie west coast of tho South Island. Warm temperatures, but cool to-night. RAINFALL RECORD.
