ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR.

GOOD PROGRESS RECORDED.

Outstanding events in the 74th year of its life in the city and a record of progress made during the year was contained in the annual report of the Auckland branch of the Y.M.C.A., to be presented at tho annual meeting on Tuesday evening. "Tho organisation has passed the experimental stage and has become one of the city's permanent assets," the report states. "The development from such activities as were possible in a oneroomed building 74 years ago to the highly-organised programme of to-day proves the association's adaptability." Thero were many evidences of progress during tho year, tho report continues. The building in Wellesley Street was completely renovated and remodelled at a cost of £1500; a home in Allendale Road, Mount Albert, was secured by the Education Department for tho purposes of a hostel for boys under the care of the department who are receiving a secondary education; and the camp lodgo at Hunna was officially handed over to the association by the Auckland Rotary Club, and was used last Christmas by a record number of campers.

The report records with regret tho death of Mr. A. C. Caughey, who for many years took an active interest in tho work of the organisation. Reference is also made to tho Joss sustained by tho departure from Auckland of Mr. W. E. Bush.

The work of Uio association, in its various branches, was carried on successfully throughout the year. The sports section Jintl continued to flourish and cricket arid Association and Rugby football teams had played in open competitions with considerable success. Tho total membership stood at 1661 and tho enrolments for the year wero 254.

The only nomination for the position of president is that of Mr. 0. 11. Ftirness, the present holder of the office.
