WORK ON HIGHWAY.
BOARD WITHHOLDS GRANT.
NORTH TARANAKI PROTEST.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.]
NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday.
A strong protest against the action of the Main Highways Board in withholding a grant for sealing a portion of the Main North Road after the. grant, for the foundation had been made and the work proceeded with, was made by the North Taranaki executive of the Farmers' Union to-day. It was decided to make representations to the department, the board, and Taranaki M.P.'s, pointing out the absolute necessity .of the grant for sealing being made, as otherwise the Clifton County Council would have to expend a considerable Bum,of money in maintaining the foundation work already carried out.
