SISTERS STRUCK BY CAR.

ONE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL.

MISHAP IN REMUERA ROAD. Two sisters, Misses, Mavis and Phyllis Pitkethley, of 2, Shera Road, Remuera, were knocked down by a motor-car near the intersection of Remuera Road and Norana Avenue about eight o'clock on Saturday evening.

The older girl, Miss Mavis Pitkethley, aged 17, sustained concussion of the brain. After receiving medical attention sho was conveyed to (he Auckland Hospital. Last evening her condition was reported to bo not serious. Miss Phyllis Pitkethley, who received minor cuts to the head and hip, was able to go home.

The two girls had just stepped from the pavement when the accident occurred. The motor-car, which was driven by Mr. N. W. Bonham,' was proceeding from the direction of thd city.

Owing to the bicycle he was riding colliding with a motor-car at the corner of St. Hill Street and Maria Place, Alfred McArthur, aged 10 years, was admitted to the Public Hospital on Friday with both legs fractured and suffering from concussion. His condition subsequently was stated to be serious.

Owing to their motor-car colliding with a tram yesterday morning in Opawa, Mr. J. Wallow, aged 55, and his wife received injuries to their heads. Ihev were both taken to hospital. The condition of Mrs. Warlow was reported to be serious.

■Two motor-cars were extensively daßiaged in a collision at the intersection of the Hautapu and Cambridge Roads, near Cambridge, this afternoon. One car, a heavy seven-seater, driven by Mr. J. H. Johnston, of Henoerson, was proceeding from Hautapu to Hamilton, while tho other, a light vehicle, driven by Mr. T. G. Ruthven, of Frankton, was proceeding to Cambridge.

Three sailors from the cruiser Diomede and three young women were Tiding in a motor-car which ran over the footpath in Brooklyn shortly after midnight and capsized. The vehicle was badly damaged and the occupants suffered injuries, though only of a minor nature. Miss A. Vincent, Miss P. Howcl and Miss S. Posselt suffered bruises, abrasions and shock, and were removed-to the hospital by the ambulance. Miss Howcl, however, was allowed to go home. This morning the condition of the other two girls was reported to be satisfactory.

One of the sailors, L. G. I-e Bos, received a lacerated wound on the head, but after treatment at the hospital he was removed to the Diomede. W. Jones, a stoker, suffered bruises and abrasions on the face, and a lacerated wound on the left leg. He was taken by the ambulance from Brooklyn to the Ship.

While riding a motor-cycle toward Whangarei this afternoon Mr. Edward Spiers was thrown from his machine, when it skidded near the Maunu school, and was rendered unconscious. He.was mwscquentlv admitted to the Whangarei District Hospital.

A collision resulting in extensive damage to two motor-cars occurred in Park Road, near Grafton Bridge, about 11.30 on Saturday evening. None of -the occupants of the cars was injured, A closed car driven by Mr. William O'Donncll, of 23. Falcon Street. Parnell, was going along Park Road in the diiaction of the Auckland Hospital, and a ftve-seater touring model, driven by Mr. E. CI. Talliss, of Symonds Street, was going in the opposite direction. Ihe two cars met. with considerable force, coming to rest on the footpath, some distance apart.

The car driven by Mr. O'Donnell, was owned by Mr. P. J- J- Barry, of 1, Ngahere Terrace, Parnell, and was badly damaged in front. Both wheels \\ci» buckled, the dumb-irons twisted and 'Jifl lamps bent. The other car was ai.-o extensively damaged, one wheel being broken, the back axle b<;i)t and tiie srOik dsp.ted 1 places.
