POLICE COURT NEWS.
SEPARATION ORDER SEQUEL. MAN'S VISIT TO WIFE'S HOUSE. Charges of being drunk and disorderly and of assaulting a constable were prefcrrcd against John James Wells, aged 33, in the Police Court on Saturday. Senior-Sergeant O'Grady said that a separation order on behalf of accused's wife was made by the Court on Friday. Accused later visited his wife's house and behaved in a violent, manner. He threw tea over his mother-in-law and assaulted a constable who was summoned to tho house.
Constable Oliver said that accused used very bad language. Accused agreed to take out, a prohibition order, and he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Arrested on Friday, Arthur John Roberts, aged 26, admitted four charges of stealing an overcoat, a gold watch and other articles, and £9 2s 6d in money. Accused was remanded until Thursday for sentence, Chief-Detective Hammond stating other offences required investigating.
