Increases in the cost of certain concession tickets for municipal trams and buses and in tho cash faro for buses were decided upon by tho New Plymouth Borough Council last evening, it being hoped by this means to raise another £2OOO annually from tram services and £3OO annually from bus services. That was one of the decisions reached by tho Borough Council in an effort to place the services on a paving footing. The; recommendation came from the Electric Light and Tramways Committees. After an exhaustive investigation into tho subject it was also decided to alter four single-truck cars to conform to the regulations to enable them to be operated as one-man cars, tho estimated cost of the conversion being £ISOO, plus an automatic point controller, £2OO. Owing to tho intervention of the school holidays it was decided to postopne until September 10 tho operation of the alterations regarding school concession tickets.
