SURGICAL CONFERENCE.
CURE FOR SEA-SICKNESS.
TEACHING CHILDREN TO PLAY. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received August 20, 5.5 p.m.) HONOLULU. Aug. 19. At tho Pan-Pacific Surgical Conference to-day Dr. Robert Pulleine (Adelaide) interested tho delegates with a discussion of a type of hereditary deafness caused by nasal obstruction, lie urged early diagnosis and a treatment which, he said, would be successful if adopted in time. The American delegates discussed a new cure for sea-sickness. It had been developed in an experiment on one of their number while they were on the way to Honolulu. Sodium amytal was used. Sir James Barrett (Melbourne) addressed the Pan-Pacific Club oil " Playgrounds and Recreation." He emphasised the need for teaching children to play.
