The,annual social arid rnrd evening arranged in connection with the local Returned Soldiers' Association wa? held in the public hall on Monday evening. Ihe hall had been effectively decorated with streamers and bunting, and there was a good attendance of dancers. Over 40 tables were utilised for the card players in the Supper room. Orchestral music for the dancers was provided by M:ss Moffett's orchestra, and Mr. G. Green and the Joylands Orchestra. During the evening the president, the Rev. C. B. W. Seton, presented the winners of the five hundred drive with trophies, and the winners of tho competition dances with prizes He also took the opportunity to welcome the mnnv guests find thank the orchestras for their voluntary and honorary as sistance. The duties of masters of cere niony were carried out by Messrs. Lippialt, Fearnley and Hoslep for cards, and Messrs. McLaren-Wells and Pearce for the dances.
