The National Government announces the receipt of n reply from the American Government to the recent Note it presented to the. Powers, requesting tlio immediate abolition of consular jurisdiction. It is understood tnat America refuses to consider an immediate abolition, while offering to discuss the question. It is believed that the refusal is based ou tlio belief that many Chinese courts are subject to military influence.
