AUCKLAND TRANSPORT.
SERVING WESTERN SUBURBS.
QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL REPORTER.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday.
The provision of adequate transport facilities for the suburbs in the area west of Auckland formed the subject of a notice of a question given by Mr. H. G. R. Mason (Auckland Suburbs) to tho Prime Minister. Sir Joseph Ward, in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr. Mason's question was: "Whether the Prime Minister is aware of tho fact that the Auckland Transport Board has omitted the western suburbs of Auckland from the area for which it is making financial provision for a rapid transit service, the omission being due to the requirements of the Local Government Loans Board that there should not be a service which would be a duplication of that anticipated to bo given through tho proposed Morningside tunnel, and whether lie will terminate the present unsatisfactory condition of suspense. Further, whether in the event off his not deciding immediately to go on with tho tunnel will he make some provision to overcome the difficulty arising through insufficiency of tho transport Boards present financial arrangements."
