RETIREMENT OF JUDGE.

NEW SOUTH WALES BENCH. SYDNEY, May 23. The intended retirement of Mr. Justice Campbell from tho Supreme Court Bench is officially announced. Mr. Justice James Lang Campbell was born in Argyllshire in 1860, and after leaving school came to Australia, whcie lie was called to the New South Wales Bar in 1886. He built up a very large practice, chiefly on the common law side, and was engaged in many important cases. Ho was appointed to the Bench in 1922. Ho was chairman of the commission which inquired into the Creycliffo disaster.
