THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

HEAVY BUSINESS YESTERDAY. A large volume of business was transacted on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Thero was a keen demand for Government securities and local body debentures, with a sale of City of Auckland debentures, 1962, per cent., at £99 ss. War Loans, 1939, 4J, per cent., were done 2s 6d dearer at par, and Inscribed Stocks, 1933, 51, per cent., had sale 2s 6d cheaper at £lOl 2s 6d. New Zealand Breweries debentures were again done at 275. In banks Commercials ot Australia had sale at the current price, 30s 2d, with inoro on offer at that figure. English, Scottish and Australians changed hands at £8 lis 6d, 4s below the level of the last transaction, and New South Wales were 2s 6d easier, with a sale at £sl 17s 6d. More were offered at £52, the level of the last sale New Zealands changed hands at the current tiguie of 62s 3d, with further inquiry at that level. In coal Grey Valleys eased yd, soiling at 235, and Westport Stocktons were a shade easier, with a sale at 3s. In shipping Northerns had sale at the current price of 14s, with further demand at that price. In timber Kauris were done at 20s 3d, 3d below the last sale. More were wanted at the price. In woollens Kaiapois were bought at 14s, which is 6d below the level of the last transaction. In the miscellaneous section Dunlop Rubbers had sale at 28s. KemptliorneProssers made a further advance, selling at 76s 9d, compared with the last sale at 755. Sanfords sold 9d cheaper at 18s. In mining Alburnias were again done at 2s 3d, and Waihis were unchanged, with a sale at 12s lOd. YESTERDAY'S SALES.
