TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tlio following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent, last evening:— A change to unsettled weather is indicated, conditions becoming cloudy to overcast, and rain following over most of the Dominion, particularly in the central districts of tlio North Island. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, increasing strong to galo in places near the east coast. Seas rough and increasing in the central and southern Tasman Sea, and on the east coast, especially southward of East Cape. A cyclone of moderate intensity is developing westward of New Plymouth, moving eastward. Expect milder temperatures. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 29.95 in. Midnight, Wednesday .. 30.1 Oin. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A cyclone is centred jn the Tasman Sea and is moving toward northern New Zealand. Indications are for east to north winds, strong north of Cape Egmoht and East Cape, and freshening elsewhere. Seas generally smooth to moderate, but rising north of East Cape and off shoio north of Cape Egmont Strong north-east to northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, and a change to southerly-gales advancing over the ceil tral Tasman, with rough seas. Weather mainly fair at first, but with increasing cloud. Unsettled conditions and rain developing north of Auckland, and gradually extending southward. Warmer temperatures. RAINFALL RECORD.
