REPRESENTATIVE HOCKEY.
AUSTRALIAN TEAM'S TOUR.
ITINERARY ARRANGED. [Br TELEGRAPH.— PHES3 ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHUKCH, Thursday. At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association this evening, the following challenges were received for the challenge shield, of which Wellington are the holders Nelson, Auckland and Poverty Bay, in the order named. June 29 was fixed as the date for the first shield match. Subsequently the challenges were approved in that order. The question of holding an inter-island match this season was held over. The Australian Association wrote stating that it was assured of a fully representative team being available for the New Zealand tour. The team would arrive at Wellington on July 16 and leave from Auckland on August 10. A sub-committee reported that tho itinerary had been considered, and the inclusion of South Island matches was impracticable. The following itinerary was approved:—July 18, v. Wairarapa, at Carterton; July 20, v. Wellington, at Wellington; July 23, v. Hawke's Bay, at Hastings; July 24, v. Dannevirke; July 27, v. New Zealand, at Wanganui; July 31, v. Taranaki, at Eltham; August 3, v. New Zealand, at Auckland; August 7, v. Waikato, at Hamilton; August 8, v. Thames.
It was decided to select the team for the first test match preferably from minor association players. The following selectors were appointed:—L. C. Kent, Auckland; S. G. Holland, Canterbury; R. G. Thompson, Wanganui.
