THE TRANSPORT BOARD.
Sir,—Mr. F. S. Morton is evidently a true democrat and wants to see the Transport Board an .elective body. It is about time it was, because the Motor f' Omnibus Act and its successive horrors has made Auckland stagnant. Evidently there are some men who have developed a sudden horror at the thought that the people should be put to the expense o£ an election, and it is to be hoped that it is not the fear of an election that gives them the most alarm. Mr. Morton deserves the thanks of the community, and there is no doubt that electors are decidedly hostile to the present' Transport Board, and would like to have a say in the matter. It would be a fine thing if the board as a body took this opportunity to resign and seek election on a popular vote. It would cost the election no more than for one member, and would be real lively. Harold Schmidt.
