PUBLIC SCHOOL BOYS.
Sir, —"New Zca.lc.ndcr" implies that I think that tho public school boys should have preference over New Zealand lads. I assure him nothing was further from my mind. All we want is fair play from tho Government. Wo were brought out here with the promise of assistance. Many have now served their apprenticeship, and one learnt the other day in Wellington that the Government fears there is no money available with which to help us. One read in the Herald that tho Taranaki farmers want more English school boys. Why the preference by New Zealand farmers for the public school boys ? Wo must have proved satisfactory ns a whole. Now they talk of bringing moro boys liere, while the promised assistance to those of us who have been out here four and more years is not forthcoming. Public School Boy. May 23, 1929.
