SPECIAL SHOPPING WEEK.
SCHEME AT WHANGAREI.; [B3T TELEGItArir.—OWN COIIKESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Thursday. A meeting in connection with the proposed shopping week was held last evening, Mr. K. G. Hosking presiding. The committee reported that it had revised dates and had selected the period from August 19 to 24. On the motion of Mr. Hosking it was decided that shopping week ho held during that period. In connection with tho Ivational Dairy Conference to be held in Whaiigarei in June it was decided that tho committee should wait on tho Borough Council to urge that if possible the special lighting system bo installed for the visit of the conference delegates. A letter was brought betore the meeting from the British Manufacturers' Association of Now Zealand suggesting that an Empire shopping week bo held during Empire Day week. It was decided that the association be notified that a shopping week was being held in August, and that the matter would be kept before tho committee and an endeavour mado to display Empire goods to advanta 00. was reported that about 75 shopkeepers had notified their intention of participating in the community lighting scheme.
