PRESENTATIONS.
As a mark of appreciation of Mr. L, G. Armstrong's public services for 10 years as Mayor of Te Awamutu tho residents tendered him and lilrs. Armstrong a complimentary social in the Te Awamutn Town Hall on Wednesday evening. The new Mayor, Mr. C. G. Downes, presided and eulogistic speeches were given by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitonio and Mayor of To Kuiti; Mr. J. T. Johnson, chairman of the Power Board and a representative of tho Waipa. County Council- Messrs. J. Olip'hant, A- Hanna ana A. S. Wallace. Mr. Dovvnes presented Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong, with an oak canteen of stainless cutlery. Mr. Armstrong suitably acknowledged the gift and to sentiments expressed. Mr. J. P. Prescott, who has been on the staff of the Opotiki post office for tli past two years and has received notice. w transfer to Waihi, was farewelled by staff last evening and presented .J A. P. Stewart, postmaster, with a Jeaine attache case. Mr. Prescott has ahvav been popular with his colleagues an public.
