OBITUARY.
MRS. KATE PERUGINI. Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON, May 9. The death has occurred of Mrs. Kate Perugini, the only surviving daughter of Charles Dickens, aged 89.
The only child now surviving of Charles Dickons is the sixth son, Sir Henry Fielding Dickens, Common Sei'jeanfc of the Citv of London, who was born in 1849. Charles Dickons, whoso full name was Charles John Huffam, gave his sons —not his daughteis—" literary " names. After the first, Charles, the names were Walter Landor, Francis Jeffrey, Alfred Tennyson (who lived in Melbourne), Sydney Smith, Henry Fielding, and Edward Bulwer Lytton.
SIR EDMUND TURTON. Australian Press Association—United Service LONDON, May 9. Tho death has occurred of Sir Edmund Turton, Conservative member of the House of Commons for Thirsk and Malton Division, Yorkshire. Sir Edmund liussborough Turton was born in 1857, and was at Eton and Oxford. lie was called to the Bar in 1882, and unsuccessfully contested various seats from 1885, and was elected for the Thirsk Division first in 1915, and had since then held the seat. He was from 1892 to 1897 a member of the London County Council. Ho was master of tho Bilsdale Hunt for some years. He was a director of the Midland Bank and of various large companies. He had been Chairman ot Standing Committees in the House of Commons. 'Ho was created a baronet in 1926, and leaves no heir to the title.
