OCCUPATIONS FOR BOYS.
PROBLEMS OF EMPLOYMENT. INVESTIGATION IN DUNEDIN. [BY ' TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DUNEDIN, Friday. A special committee of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce has for some time been dealing with the question of the employment of youths and endeavouring to devise some means whereby the gap between "school and work could be bridged. The committee met last night, when several members of the School Committees' Association were also present. Mr. L. F. De Berry suggested that the chamber should obtain from every trade and commerce organisation, and from farmers also, the possible requirements in numbers of the different trades and other occupations for next year. With that information, he said, it- might be possible to ascertain what type of youth was wanted. Mr. J. M. Gallawav expressed the opinion that the committee could only further review the position, as it had not arrived at the stage yet where a final plan could be put forward.
It was decided that the chamber should communicate with interested organisations to ascertain from them how many youths they would require next year.
