COCKROACHES IN A FLAT.
Mrs. Violet Frances D'Arcy received judgment in a London court lately for £4Bl damages, with costs, in an action against the Regal Cinema Ltd., regarding a nuisance alleged to be due to then negligence. Stay for execution was Mrs D'Arcy was the tenant of a flat which' formed part of premises acquired by the company for the purpose of providing an exit from their new cinema. A shop, formerly used as a cafe, was closed and cockroaches entered Mrs. D'Arcy's flat. Mrs. D'Arcy, who said that she was bitten by an insect while she was in bed, alleged that the plague of cockroaches was due to the company's negligence in leaving the cafe in an unclean state.
The company denied negligence, and contended that the cockroaches were in the promises before it became occupied by tho owners.
