FOXHOUNDS POISONED.
FOUR DIE IN AGONY. A run by the North Herefordshire Foxhounds which was just becoming exciting came to an abrupt and tragic conclusion in the Bromyard country, a few weeks ago. ■ The pack were running strongly when one of the leading hounds collapsed and died before anything could be done for it.
The remainder of the pack continued the line toward Buckland House, but when in full view of the field eight more hounds suddenly collapsed. They were obviously suffering acute pain, and the wife of a former master of the pack supplied emetics while members of her household staff helped in the efforts to save the animils. A veterinary surgeon was sent for, but three of the hounds died in agony. The others were saved.
Obviously the hounds had picked up poison during the morning. It must have been lying about in considerable quantities for so many to have been affected. The affair axoused much indignation,
