FRANKLIN RACING CLUB.

MEETING AT PUKEKOHE. TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. Excellent fields are .engaged at tho Franklin Racing Club's meeting, to bo held at Pukekohe to-day, and Boraa interesting sport should bo provided. Owing to tho size of the fields in tho Trial Handicap and the Franklin Stakes, those events aro to be run in divisions and this will make the programme'lengthy, so that an early start is to be made. Tho divisions of the Franklin Stakes will be treated as separate races. The following is the list of horses engaged in the various events:

REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. BY ARCHER. So numerous are the acceptors for the Trial Handicap that the event is to be run in two divisions, the totalisator closing before the' running of the first division ni d dividends to be paid only on the winners of the divisions. There arc many possibilities in each division. Form says a good deal for the chances of Cruachan, Parfait Amour and Little Toy in the first division, in which Night Comet, Dainty Manners, Grand Arch and Theodolite may be best of the others. Princess Rain and Loving Cup are nicely placed in the second division and others with chances arc Diamond Queen, Otranto, Land Measure and Myola. Fancies may take a fairly wide range and there may be solid support for Cruachan, Parfait Amour, Loving Cup and Otranto.

There is a useful field in the Ramarama Hight-weight Handicap and the presence of several successful jumpers who are likely to claim attention at the winter meetings will invest the race with a lot of interest. Kawini may be the pick of the top-weights and Glendowie has sufficient spe.ed to be handy at . the finish. Harbour View and War Officer have failed lately, but may make amends in this class, as they can handle soft going. Brampton and Bizarro are likely light-weights and the best of the others may be Always and Master ArchIt should be a good betting race and there may bo Bolid support for Brampton. War Officer and Harbour View.

The Pfikekawa Hack Handicap has attracted a- largo, field and the uiun is very open. Good Boy. Leitntn and Brilliant Light are in form, while Unoco. Kawainga, Valuation and Archieval are all smart hacks when at their best. Standfast is nicely placed and will only « av^..' 1 0 begin decently to be very troublesome. Lwo may not be quite ready and the best ot the others may be Sea Cob, .Palmares, Roman Pearl and We kne Standfast may be favourite, with Archieval and valuation also in demand.

There aro 14 engaged ill. the Miissev Memorial Cup and it, promises to be a very interesting contest. In the oiiacie has run better in liis lust two starts than lie has done for some lime, but be will find it. very difficult to beat TJoyal Doulton at the weights if the latter bns freshened up. High Pitch, The Lover and Modest. Boy have been working nicely and it, is in their fnvour that they can handle soft going Lncy Rose will he dangerous if she <"in get the distance and Mervette, at hor best, would have an undoubted chance. There are several likely ones among the light-weights and the best of these may be Thursby. King Emerald and Maori Boy. Ifoyal Doulton. Thursby and ihe Lover may share the public confidence. Some speedy beginners figure in the first division of the Franklin .Stakes and the draw for positions may affect the issue. Two-vear-olds like Valstrcet and Crimestor should show up 111 the class, although V 1 list reet is very doubtful at the barrier. Of Hie older brigade, Te Taone, Atupm, Queen Comet and Lady Eustace may be .best. Backers may fancy Valstreet, Cnmestor and Te -Taone.

There ia a useful field of sprinters in Hif Harrisville Flying Handicap. Kmgfield will be racing under his favourite conditions and is sure to be troublesome.. Dave may feel the lack of racing and Subdivision. The Begum nnd Lady's Boy appear better prospects. If he is not sore. Lady s Boy will require considerable heating. Gold Money should go well in the clnss and other' nossibilities among the light-weights are Mucroom, Leitrim and Black Mairc. Kingtield. Gold Money and Lady s Boy may claim slroug support.

Several of the candidates for the second division of the Franklin Stakes_ have recent form to recommend them. The two-year-olds Fraser and Praetor look like being very difficult to beat and they may have most trouble from Exalted. Camp Prince and Gold Lily. The draw for post positions may have a bearing on the betting, although Fraser. Camp Prince and Praetor may be the prime fancies. There is material for a solid betting race in the President's .Handicap. Schorr is very well, while Mithra, Lorient 11. and Respirator have recent form to recommend them. Hakanoa ran a good race at his Inst start and. Macroom and Barometer should be possibilities in tho class. Sir Russell and Chelone may also be. worthy of consideration and altogether it is a very, open race. Lorient 11... Hakauoa and Barometer may be in demand.
