OTAHUHU BOROUGH.

MATTERS BEFORE COUNCIL. Tho Otahuhu Borough Council met on Thursday evening, the Mayor, Mr. H. T. Clements, presiding. Ibo clerk was instructed to prepare a financial statement for tho borough and to supply each member with a copy. Building permits issued during tho past fortnight represented a total sum of £7904. Tho pumping engineer reported a continued fall in the level of the water in tho well which is tho borough water supply. Tho Mayor e.xplained that this was usual at tho present time, but that the level would rise after the mid-winter months. The council decided to make a presentation to an old employee, Mr. E. Ayers, who has retired after 15 yoars' service. At the request of the Mayor an informal meeting of members for a round-table talk on borough matters was arranged for Wednesday.
