AVIATION ACTIVITIES.

NEW MOTH IN SERVICE. Aviation in the Waikato has been given an impetus bv the formation of a companv known as Hamilton Airways, Ltd. The company has taken delivery of a new Gipsy Moth machino from Mr. D. Mill, the New Zealand agent, and commercial flying is being undertaken immediately. The organisation consists of ten Hamilton business men, and it is hoped that an aerodrome will be secured within a few miles of the town. The new machine will bp Jiving from the Mangere aerodrome today. CANTERBURY AERO CLUB. TRAINING SOON TO START. The Canterbury Aero Club will actively function within the next few weeks. The instructor, Captain J. C. Mercer, will commence a special course of training at. the Wigram Aerodrome next Thursday, during which he will rig the two Moth aeroplanes which have been allotted to the Canterbury Club, but which have not yet been taken over by it. At the conclusion of Captain Mercer's month's course, the instruction of pupil-members will begin. Thirteen pupil members havo signed and another two aro in sight. To make the club financially successful, however, twenty pupil members will be necessary. I'upil members will bo required to pay a deposit of £l2, the remaining portion of the fees, estimated at £52, to be paid in instalments.

The Auckland Aero Club has invited tho Canterbury Club to send a machine to Auckland on April 13, its opening day. Tho Hawke's Bay Club has sent a similar invitation' for April 27, when that club will hold an aerial pageant and a number of air races. The committee has requested tho Minister of Defence to nuthoriso Captain Mercer to fly a Government Moth to Auckland and Napier for these functions.
