SCREENING AT SERVICE.
A POPULAR INNOVATION.
The introduction of a motion picture, "The King of Kings," into the sorvice conducted by the Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour at the Strand Theatre last evening proved a great attraction. There was a larße audience. Explaining the innovation the minister maintained the Church was not gripping the people as in former days. "I believe the Church is growing and suffering in the process, but whatever may be said of the Church it can never bo said that the Christ Spirit is in any way on the wane," declared Mr. Scrimgeour. "In every part of the inhabited globe there is concrete evidence that the mission of Christ was no vain hopo or wild fancy. Tho teeming millions of the East are stifring, and in spite of the fact that they have practically closed their hearts to tho Western missionary the Christ is being met, not only on the Indian road, but evervwhero.
" Whatever phase of life you may examine, social, industrial or international, you will find the mark of His teaching. War, flint great blasphemy against God. is slowly but surely being outlawed. Democracy is on the march and the Carpenter has taught the dignity of 'labour.' " Mr. Scrimtreour said manv people had entirely wrong conee'itions of the Christ and the meaning of His mission. The film would do more toward the correction of this wrong thinkiner than anything else.
