SALES OF FISH.
FURTHER TROUBLE UNLIKELY RETAILERS' WISHES MET. No further trouble in the marketing of fish is expected at Sanfovd's depot, as Mr. G. Sanford states he is prepared to meet tho wishes of the retailers. This will obviate the necessity for suggested emergency measures on the part of retailers, and it is presumed the city's fish trade will continue as before. Objection was raised by retailers to the action of the firm in making up baskets of fish for sale at 25s each instead of selling by the pound as had been tho custom An emergency meeting was held on Friday, a committee being set up to inquire "into the possibility of obtaining supplies elsewhere Stating his intention to meet the wishes of the retailers, Mr. Sanford said last evening ho had not been approached by them and ho had not yet mado his decision known to them. He had instructed his seller to dispose of the fish at the sale this morning as retailers desired. The fish would 'bo in baskets, but it could easily be sold by the pound. His firm had uo wish to antagonise the retailers, who were at liberty to adopt either system of purchase.
