AVIATION CONFERENCE.
MANUFACTURE OF PLANES.
AN INTERNATIONAL CODE.
SUGGESTION FROM CANADA.
Australian and N.Z Press Association. (Received December 15, 5.5 i WASHINGTON, Doc 14. At the final full sitting of tho International Aeronautical Conference to-day the Canadian Deputy-Minister'of National Defenco, Mr. Des Barnts, presented an appeal for the establishment of an international code of standards governing aeroplane manufacture and certificates of airworthiness, which would include the United States ns well ns the European countries.
No official action was taken by the meeting, but it is considered probable that there will be further informal discussions of tho matter before tho aviation experts here depart for homo.
The failuro of tho United States to ratify tlio convention of 1919, is bolieved here to hinder developments in the export of American aeroplano equipment. Tho recent Australian proclamation on this matter, it is thought, seemed to bo an instance in point. Mr. Des Barats said Canada had a working agroemont with tho United States under which Canada imported aviation equipment, in spite of the fact that Canada was a signatory to tho 1919 convention. Mr. Des Barats added: "I suggest to members of the conference that thoy urge upon their respective Govern ments tho necessity of u unified codo." Tho delegates will dopart to-morrow lo Ivittyhawk, North Carolina, for the unveiling of a statue in connection with the Wright celebration.
