PAINTINGS OF SPAIN.
EXHIBITION IN LONDON. WORK OF LIONEL LINDSAY. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received December 16, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 15. Mr. Lionel Lindsay's 51 Spanish water colours in the Colnaghi Galleries, Bond Street, are attracting favourable comment. Mr. Alfred Munnings, the Royal Academician, said: "There are so many good drawings that it is difficult to choose." Senor Fernandez, an Andalusian painter, said: "What a pity thrso were not exhibited at Madrid. Signor Lindsay is not a mere tourist. Ho sees Spain with our eyes." Mr. Lindsay says that the pictures are the result of exploration off tlio beaten truck. The art critics unanimously praise the pictures. The Morning Post says; "Look at any, or indeed all' the subjects, and mark structural fascination of the colour harmonies, in deft transparent touches, quick with the happy play of light and shade."
