Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A moderate anticyclone is covering New Zealand and tho eastern Tasman Sea. A depression is still situated over the south-west Tasman. Indications aro for moderate southerly winds north of Cook Strait, elsewhere variable, but northerlies prevailing and later becoming general and freshening south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint. Sens gonorally smooth to modeiato in New Zealand waters Light to moderate and variable winds, but northerlies prevailing soon and freshening in the eastern Tasman Sea; generally moderato seas, but rising soon in the southern portion. Weather fair to fine, but becoming cloudy soon on tho west coast of tho South Island, with somo showers. Mild tornperatures. RAINFALL RECORD. Fall in City (Herald gauge): 24 hours ended midnight.
