AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.

FIFTH SERIES OF MATCHES.

SOLID BATTING ALL ROUND.

TWO CENTURIES REGISTERED.

The fifth series of matches in the Auckland Cricket Association's senior cham ,pionship -ompetition was commenced on Saturday in fine weather. Tho heavy rain of the previous days made the wickets soft looking, but they played easy and were in favour of the batsmen. The result was larger scoring all round than usual. Two of the senior matches at Eden Park promise to provide interesting finishes. Consequent on a Blow batting exhibition it is doubtful if Eden has sufficient runs on to declare against Univorsity. Y.M.C.A.'s chances of defeating Ponsonby appear to depend almost entirely upon Rowley. Grafton should win Us match against United Suburbs, with a possibility of gaining a four-pointer. For the first time this season North Shore showed its true batting form. Following aro details of the play:— EDEN V. UNIVERSITY. Eden occupied the wickets the whole afternoon against University, losing five wickets for 287 runs. Postles batted solidly and patiently f0r,68., A. F. Weir and G. L. Weir both gave bright displays.
