REPAYMENT OF LOANS.
UNBRANDED HARDWOOD POLES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU. Sunday. At a meeting of the Te Awamutu Elec-tric-Power Board it was decided to enter a vigorous protest; against the proposal of the Local Govarametit Loans Board to limit the term cf loan advances to 20 years with a sinking fund of 3 per cent. The chairman said the Loans Board was adopting an arbitrary attitude that mustj bear heavily on power boards. The secretary-manager, Mr. D. - Me* Arthur, reported that some hardwood poles from Australia had come to hand nobranded. As they did not comply with tbe specifications ha had refused them* The secretary's action was endorsed. . A member suggested that it might be desirable for power boards to' unite iifc appointing a competent inspector in An»« tralia, but the chairman stated that this suggestion had not found favour whe4 advanced at a power boards' conference* The financial statement showed the power fund account itii credit £ll2l Is 4d, on tho loan account a, credit of £1239 128 3d, and on the consumers' finance accounb a*credit of £286 7s 4d.
